Karen knows both the Denver and mountain community markets and is passionate about her real estate business. This shows in everything from start to finish of a real estate transaction up until a successful closing. Her goal is to make this sometimes daunting experience as seamless as possible while giving her clients peace of mind. Appreciating that this is a relationship business, Karen is proud that 100% of her business comes from repeat clients, referrals from clients, friends and family who have put their trust in Karen’s negotiating skills and professional reputation.

In 1995 Karen started JK Design LLC, a construction and design company. She has built new and remodeled homes ranging in value from $350,000 to $1,000,000+. In 2008 she expanded this portion of her business when the Denver real estate market prices fell drastically allowing her to personally invest in distressed homes in Wash Park, Cherry Creek and 7th Avenue Historic District neighborhoods. With this acquired first-hand knowledge, she gained expertise in 1031 exchanges, the rental market, and property management while managing her own investment properties. This expertise has proven valuable to her clients in making wise decisions in regards to residential real estate as a profitable alternative to less desirable retirement plans with much lower returns on investment.


Prior to residential real estate she was a commercial real estate agent in Denver with Cushman & Wakefield. Karen started her marketing career as a Sales Executive with Xerox Corporation in both the Kansas City and Denver branch offices. Gaining marketing and sales experience from this Fortune 500 company has helped position her to strategize the most effective marketing plans customized for each individual client’s property so that they will receive the best return on their investment, whether it is their personal residence or an investment property.

Giving back to her community has always been important to Karen. In 1999 she helped found a non-profit 501-C-3 organization whose mission is to develop character values in its youth. As President, she focused on building partnerships among businesses, individuals, schools and organizations. She is the past President of the Evergreen Chamber of Commerce and the Center for the Arts Evergreen.  She has served on the Board of Directors in numerous Officer positions for the Evergreen Rotary Club, Colorado Horse Food Bank, Evergreen Chamber of Commerce, Center for the Arts Evergreen and is a Graduate of Leadership Evergreen.


A transplant from Missouri, Karen has lived in the mountain communities of Evergreen and Conifer since 1978.  She and her husband have 3 daughters who have all graduated from Evergreen High School and are currently pursuing their own careers and have families of their own. Karen and Jim continue to reside on their JKC ranch in Evergreen. Colorado’s mountain lifestyle affords them the ability to indulge their hobbies of trail riding their horses while enjoying the beauty of the Rocky Mountains.
